Ex.1
legato. This particular example is a simple exercise that develops
right and left hand coordination. Start the first pattern using
your 1st. 2nd. and 4th. fingers of the left hand. Conversely,
employ the 1st. 3rd. and 4th fingers for the second pattern. Practice
each pattern in all positions and maintain clarity rather than
focusing on speed.
Ex.2 In this example the right hand utilizes a bit of economized
picking as indicated by the down and upstroke symbols at the bottom
of the tab, but feel free to try out different ideas with the
right hand. Secondly, the the second and third fingers of the
right hand are used to tap, these tapped notes are indicated by
T2 (second finger) and T3 (third finger). Simply follow that tab
and maintain a clean sound.
Ex.3
Finally, this lick showcases a four note per string style of legato
playing. As with the previous lick T2 and T3 indicate which fingers
are being used to tap on the right hand. Start slow and if you
are unfamiliar with wide stretches please take your time.
