Legato/Slide
Video:
Hey everyone, this is a lick in E Dorian, and we’re basically
just starting on a D note on the e string and going down the scale
until the last note possible. For those of you who don’t know,
the E dorian scale is made up of these notes: E, F#, G, A, B,
C#, D.
There is a pattern to this exercise. Every even number string
(B, D, and E) you slide up to the next diatonic note of the scale
and continue the run. Start slow, build up your speed, and most
importantly, have fun!

Legato/Tapping
Video:
This lick is in E Dorian, and we’re basically just starting on
a D note on the high e string and going down the scale un the
last note possible. The E dorian scale is: E, F#, G, A, B, C#,
D.
There is a pattern to this exercise. Every even number string
(B, D, and E) you tap up the next diatonic note of the scale and
continue the run. Start slow, and build up your speed.
Ps. You may chose to tap the A note on the 5th fret of the 6th
string like demonstrated on the video, or you can just play a
hammer on and pull off. Enjoy!!

String
Skipping Video:
This is an exercise using the F# Harmonic Minor scale using the
high e, the G, and A strings on the guitar. Start on an up stroke,
and alternate pick all the way through. Skipping from the G to
the A string can be a little hard since you will be going from
a down stroke on the G string to an up stroke on the A string.
However, you can still just alternate pick this lick for good
alternate picking practice.
Have Fun!

Sweeping:
This
is a sweep exercise in the key of C major. First part of the lick
is a simple C triad sweep using the first 3 strings of the guitar
on the 12th position, adding the 6th (A on the 17th fret of the
high e string) and the 4th (F on the 13th fret of the high e string)
for contrast.
The second part of this lick is a sweep down the arpeggios shifting
from the 12th fret position to the 8th fret position (sweeping
up the C major arpeggio), finishing off with a legato phrase on
the B string.
Hope you enjoy!
