The
Finger Twister – Sweeping Exercise
By
Fredrik Pihl
I
came up with this lick because I wanted an exercise that would
practice my sweeping skills, but still would give a good finger
co-ordination practice.
Before you attempt the whole lick, I would suggest that you break
it up into small pieces or segments, practicing one segment at
a time. And remember to start slowly. The key with this exercise
is really not to develope ultra shred-speed, but to wake up your
fingers and make them play what you want them to play. I do this
kind exercises to get my fingers ready before gigs with my band
etc.
Check
it out and try to come up with some of your own variations. But
don’t make them to easy…. the point with this kind of exercises
is to force your fingers to play stuff they aren’t used to do.
Almost like playing twister…
