Paco
Hernández was born in 1981 in Murcia, province of Spain.
His first contact with an instrument (not with music, which he
remembers sounding at home since he has use of reason) was when
he was five years old. A friend of his father who worked in a
music store introduced him into keyboards. A couple of years later,
he took formal classes in an academy of music, where he studied
musical theory, piano and singing. For some years he was singing
in the choir associated to the Academy, experience which greatly
developed his aural skills. Later on, for diverse reasons, he
quit the Academy, but never left music aside. Around thirteen
years old, he continued looking for musical scores of his interest
and began his first steps in composing, at that time inspired
in OST (Williams, Edelman, Elman, Vangelis, and stuff like that),
new age and japanese videogame music (Final Fantasy, Castlevania,
and the like). When he was fifteen, he was introduced in rock
music by a friend via Europe. From there he came to know the German
metal of bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray, and, after that,
the general metal scene. His interest on playing guitar was greater
as time passed by, but the main culprit of making him take up
the guitar, counting already with seventeen years old was, as
frequently occurs, Yngwie Malmsteen. However, he never had some
sort of blind admiration or idolization for him. A legend was
circulating in his friend´s circle of Yngwie being something
like an unreachable God of guitar. His propose was to demonstrate
the falseness of this legend and surpass the master.
Today
he doesn´t know if he has reached this original goal, nor
he cares about that; he lost interest in this as he began to learn
a lot of new things and to discover great guitarists as Petrucci,
Vai, Satch, Tafolla, Moore, Lane, Cooley, Johnson, Howe, Holsdworth,
Timmons, etc..He also opened his ears, only onto metal and classical
before, to new styles like fusion, jazz, funk, flamenco, classical
and acoustic guitar, etc. He recently made public a demo, entitled
Heaven or Hell, with seven songs, five of them being original;
it can downloaded for free from www.guitarristas.info. With this
demo he won the competition hold by the prestigious magazine Guitarra
Total, in which he was featured in August 2006. Right now, after
one of his songs has been selected for the 2ºCD de Guitarristas.info,
and having learned a lot on recording and sound, he is working
on another demo, entitled Second Opinion, which is scheduled to
appear sometime in 2007, this time bearing in mind the international
scope.
